Tempio di Giove Anxur

The sanctuary of Monte Sant’Angelo, known as the Temple of Jupiter Anxur, overlooks Terracina from above. The grand arches of the monumental terrace are the most recognisable feature of a Roman complex built to harmonise with the landscape and command the territory below.

The archaeological trail allows visitors to explore the sanctuary’s structures and spaces, offering sweeping views of the town and the sea. The identity of the deity worshipped in the main temple is still a subject of study: the traditional name reflects a more complex archaeological history.
